About the Speaker

Yoosuf Penney embraced Islâm at the age of 18 years old. Born into a mostly secular family who had more-or-less broken away from their Christian roots, Yoosuf was introduced to Islâm by reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X. The type of transformative change Yoosuf read about in the story of his life was inspiring to Yoosuf, so he decided to investigate Islâm itself. After learning about the basics and to choose Islâm for himself. Since that time, Yoosuf studied Islâm through the books, essays and lectures of students of knowledge such as Ali Timimi, Jamal Zorobozo, Bilal Philips and others. He has hosted lesson series locally, such as Islâm 101 at the MCE Masjid and the Seerah of Muhammad (saas) at Masjid Markaz ul-Islam.
