Alhamdulillah, the journey of Masjid Al Rayyan (a registered charity in Canada) has been truly inspiring, and we are humbled and grateful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala for the overwhelming support we have received from our community. Since our doors opened on Feb 18, 2022, in just a short time, we have achieved significant milestones serving as a hub for various community activities.
Location and Facilities: Our masjid is strategically located at the intersection of Stony Plain Road and Winterburn Road in Edmonton, Alberta, making it easily accessible to both new and existing communities such as Belmead, Hamptons, Glastonbury, Grenville, Grange, Hawks Ridge, Kinglet, La Pearl, Lewis Estate, Rosenthal, Secord, Trumpeter, Town of Spruce Grove, Town of Stony Plain, etc. The masjid boasts brand new amenities, including state-of art air-conditioning and heating systems, top-quality carpet, top of the line sound system, key-fob based door access (offered at no cost to all community members), a fully functional kitchen, immaculate bathrooms and an office. The masjid also offers excellent ambiance for Mussalleen with high ceiling and abundant natural light thru large windows. These facilities provide a comfortable and welcoming environment to our community members. It is worth mentioning that all of the above construction and furnishing were completed prior to opening of our doors without requesting a single dollar of donation from the community.
Community Outreach and Support: Since our inception, we have not only fulfilled the spiritual needs of our community with daily prayers, Jumah Khutbas, educational program and Halaqas etc. but we have also extended our support to other Islamic organizations. We have allowed Islamic organizations like Al Furqaan Foundation (Free Quran Project), Al Farooq Centre, Darul Ilmi Masjid, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Masjid Ayesha, Masajid from Regina, Red Deer and Montreal, Penny Appeal etc. to fund raise in our masjid for their programs, showcasing our commitment to communal unity and generosity.
Ramadan Initiatives: Our dedication to community bonding and welfare is evident through our successful Ramadan initiatives, providing free daily iftar and dinner for over 200 people, hosting Taraweeh prayers and Qiyamul Layl with most sought after Qaris and offering multiple Eid prayers with complimentary buffet breakfasts (over 800 people).
New Masjid Project: With the incredible success of Masjid Al Rayyan, we find ourselves in need of expansion to accommodate the growing community. To effectively manage this expansion we are taking a phased approach over 3 years. The Phase 1 (Mar 2026 - Dec 2027)) is to acquire a large land within close proximity from our current location. Phase 2 (Jan to Dec 2028) will be to build a Gymnasium, washroom etc. to serve as interim masjid/classroom and to continue with our existing Prayer Services, Youth Leadership and Educational Programs. Phase 3 (Jan 2029 and onwards) build a purpose-build new Masjid with some shops for assistance in the operating cost.
To make this vision a reality, we require $2,500,000 CAD over three years to complete Phase 1 and 2. with $500,000 required by the end of Dec 2026 and $1M each in 2027 and 2028.
To accomplish our goal, we need 280 families to donate $250 per month for 36months. People can also choose to donate via lumpsum, recurring or a hybrid .
We humbly request our community members to support us in securing the land so that Masjid Al Rayyan can meet the needs of the current and future Muslim generations for many years to come.
